More Than Just Dance

Move. Dance. Change. Make a Difference.

It started with an idea to bring affordable, high quality dance education to everyone regardless of gender, race, or socio-economic status! In 2011, founder and teacher Kaitlynn Schultz set out to bring free dance classes to her community as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. Throughout college and the beginning of her career in dance education it remained a goal to someday replicate that community dance program and inspire the next generation of dancers. Grounded in the belief that the arts are a communal experience, Stage Presence seeks to bring local communities together through the joy of dance. After nearly a decade of Dance Education experience, Miss Kaitlynn is now bringing her passion to her community.

Our mission is to harness the power of dance to inspire social change, foster community connection, and promote a more just and compassionate world. Through movement, we aim to empower individuals, celebrate diversity, and create a space where every step leads to positive transformation.

Our vision is a world where dance unites people across cultures, backgrounds, and abilities, sparking collective action for social good. We strive to create a global community where every movement contributes to a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

We strive to provide more than just dance steps, more than choreography, and for students to view dance as more than just their next performance or rehearsal, but rather a vehicle for progress and change.

About

Why Dance?

Art is essential to the human experience because it gives voice to our emotions, stories, and collective consciousness in ways that words alone often cannot. It allows us to express our deepest joys, struggles, and desires, creating a shared space where people can connect across time, culture, and personal experience. Art challenges our perceptions, ignites creativity, and invites us to see the world from different perspectives, fostering empathy and understanding. It is a universal language that transcends boundaries, helping individuals and communities make sense of their lives and the world around them. In its many forms, art enriches our lives, provides meaning, and offers a space for reflection and healing, making it an indispensable part of what it means to be human.

Confidence over Competition

Stage Presence does not put competition at the forefront of its programs. Our goal is to create confident and competent artists and creators through increased performance opportunities, high quality professional development, and community building. We seek to bring together artists from different studios, backgrounds, and abilities to create thought provoking work both on and off the stage. We aim to encourage students to view other artists as collaborators, instead of competitors. We acknowledge that healthy competition can be used to instill confidence, so camaraderie and good “sportmanship” is the cornerstone of any and all contests endorsed by the organization.

Stage Presence Dance Collective is a Social Entrepreneurship venture.

What is Social Entrepreneurship:

  • Business Focus: Social entrepreneurs operate with a for-profit or hybrid business model that aims to achieve both social impact and financial sustainability. They create innovative solutions to social problems while seeking to generate revenue to reinvest in their mission.

  • Revenue Generation: Social enterprises focus on earning income through their products, services, or ventures. This income helps support their social mission, but they are not dependent solely on donations or grants like nonprofits. They may also scale their impact by attracting investors or creating scalable business models.

  • Sustainability: The emphasis is on long-term sustainability, where profits are reinvested into the mission of the business, allowing the organization to scale and expand without relying on traditional funding sources like grants.

  • Impact Goal: While profit is an important component of their model, the main goal is solving a social, environmental, or community issue in an innovative way, using business principles to create lasting change.

Example: A company that trains and employs marginalized individuals to produce eco-friendly products. The business generates revenue from sales but reinvests the profits to train and employ more people, while also addressing environmental sustainability.
